What does the SURFboard Central app do? ›

Working optimally together with your SURFboard® Home Networking device, SURFboard Central guides you from installation to configuration. Easily manage your home network, customize your settings, enable Guest Wi-Fi, manage the devices connected to your network and set up Parental Controls.

In your web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari), type in 192.168. 0.1 in your URL and press Enter on your keyboard. You will be taken to the Arris login screen, asking you for a username and password.

Download the SURFboard Central app from the app store on an Apple or Android mobile device. Tap the SURFboard icon then tap the Get Started button. The Allow notification pop-up will appear. It is required to enable Location Services in the SURFboard Central app to perform first-time setup installation.

The modem is responsible for sending and receiving signals from the ISP, while the router disperses the signal to devices on the network. In a typical home network setup, the modem is connected to the router, which is then connected to each device on the network.

Rebooting an Arris modem is usually enough to resolve any issue with connecting to the Internet. Unplug your modem from the power source, wait for 1-2 minutes, and plug it back in. However, if rebooting doesn't solve the problem, you should check the cables for damage or reset to factory settings.

The modem will automatically power on when the power adapter is connected. After the modem is successfully connected to the network, the LED indicator illuminates a solid green or blue to indicate that the modem is online and fully operational.

WiFi Protected Setup (WPS)

If you have a device that supports WPS and would like to connect to your WiFi network using this method: Press the WPS button located on the top of the modem.

Connect the modem power cord to an electrical outlet, then connect the other end to the modem. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the back of the modem and the other end to the router's Wide Area Network (WAN) port. Connect the router power cord to an electrical outlet, then connect the other end to the router.
