I’ve always been a huge fan of Diane sauce and a lot of the Diane sauce recipes that I find online never seemed to taste the same as the Diane sauce recipe from the local pub.

It seems to be one of those recipes where everyone has theirs in a unique way of making it to best suit their individual tastes.

After scouring through recipes online I managed to track down a few Diane source recipes that taste amazing and can be made with ingredients that you are likely to have stacked at the back of your pantry.

Yes, I’m talking about you Worcestershire sauce that barely sees the light of day.

Our first recipe is simple and easy and it’s composed of things that you are fairly likely to have stacked in your pantry.

Ok, let’s start the clock we want this recipe done as quickly as possible because hypothetically we just started cooking the steak and Home & Away starts in 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2tbsp of Finely chopped shallots
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • ½ cup ofvegetable broth(The Broth Sisters will hook you up here)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (It’s time to knock the dust off him)
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Salt&pepperto taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (If you aren’t growing some you should be)

Instructions

  • It’s time to get cooking, melt the butter over medium heat and cook until melted Add the shallots and garlic and cook until softened. This will roughly take 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the vegetable broth to the butter. If you are using a delicious broth from the Broth Sisters follow the instructions on the packets first.
  • Blend in the Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the mixture has thickened slightly. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and continue cooking until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
  • I can start to hear the opening credits to Home & Away so let’s get a hurry on. Add some salt and pepper to taste and stir in the chopped parsley.
  • It’s time to pour the sauce over your steak or various cut of meat and kick back for the rest of the evening.

This recipe goes well on steak although I admit I am guilty of dipping hot chips in the sauce as well. They taste amazing!! This Diane sauce recipe is also vegetarian-friendly if meat isn’t your thing.

  • 1/3 Cup of brandy or cognac
  • 1 Cup heavy cream
  • A handful of freshly chopped parsley

Step-by-step instructions

  • Add olive oil and chopped shallots to the same frying pan that you used to cook your steak. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Slice the mushrooms and add butter and crushed garlic to the pan.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard to the pan and mix well.
  • It’s time to add in the brandy or cognac and flambe (Watch your eyebrows)
  • Once the alcohol has been burnt off it’s time to add the cream and the chopped parsley to the mixture.
  • If you like you can place your steaks into the pan as well to help better infuse the flavours.

The recipe requires a few more niche ingredients as well as the skill to be able to flambe and effectively burn off the alcohol.
