Texas A&M Microsoft Office 365 Email
Texas A&M University has migrated all TAMUG email to the Microsoft Office 365 email application.
New features and applications through Microsoft Office 365:
- Focused Inboxseparates your inbox into two tabs—Focused and Other. Your most important email messages are on the Focused tab while the rest remain easily accessible—but out of the way—on the 'Other' tab. Turn off Focused Inbox.This feature can be turned off.
- Cortana Daily Briefing Emailhelps you stay in control of your calendar and be intentional about your day. Within a few hours of the start of your workday, you'll get an email about any relevant items to help you better prepare for the day ahead. This feature can be turned off.
- Junk Email Filterdoesn’t stop delivery of junk email messages but does the next best thing—it moves suspected spam to the Junk Email folder. Make sure to checkyour junk folder regularly and mark any legitimate emails as ‘Not Junk.’ This will help improve the accuracy of the filter over time.

If you are not seeing your email
- Restart your mail client - Your mail client (Outlook, Mac Mail) should see the change and automatically adjust. If it does not, restarting the mail client may force it to update its information.
- Verify your email settings as outlined below. You may be able to manually adjust your email server settings to use outlook.office365.com as your email server, but you may need to remove and re-add your account.

Web Office 365 Email
You can also access your email by using a web browser, such as Chrome or Firefox. Please follow these steps to access your email from the Web.
- Open a web browser.
- Enter the URL https://Outlook.office.com
- In the pop-up box enter your full TAMU email address and your TAMU NetID password.
- Outlook will open and you can access your emails.

Windows
Outlook - You can make sure your account is configured properly in Outlook for windows by:
- Click File.
- Select your Exchange account from the account selection menu at the top.
- Verify that https://outlook.office365.com/owa/tamu.edu/ is listed under Account Settings in the section Access this account on the web.
Windows Mail - Windows Mail does not allow you to directly view the server settings for your account, but you are able to verify the email address, user name, and password that is being used to connect to the mail server.
- Click the gear icon in the lower left of the Windows Mail main window.
- Click Manage Accounts.
- Click on your Exchange account.
- Verify that the email address is correct and that the user name is your NetID@tamu.edu.
- Click Save. If you are still unable to receive email sent since your account was migrated, you will need to remove and re-add the Windows Mail account.
macOS
Outlook - Microsoft has a new version of Outlook for Mac. Features of the new Outlook can be found on Microsoft's website.
You can view your server settings for Outlook for Mac by:
- Click Outlook.
- Click Preferences.
- Click Accounts.
- Select your Exchange account.
- Verify your E-mail address.
- Verify your User name.
- Click on Advanced....
- Verify that the Microsoft Exchange Service listed begins with https://outlook.office365.com.
Apple Mail - Apple Mail does not provide a convenient way to verify your server setting information. If you are not receiving email sent to you since your migration, you should remove and re-add your Exchange account using the information provided at the top of this document.
iOS
Outlook Mobile App - The Outlook Mobile App for iOS does not give direct visibility to the email settings being used. However, you can view which account is being used and the account type by:
- Click the user icon in the upper left.
- Verify that the account type is Office 365.
- Click the gear icon at the bottom left.
- Click the TAMU Email account under Mail Accounts.
- Verify that the email listed is your @tamu.edu email address. If it is not, you will need to delete and re-add the account.
iOS Mail - You can view the Exchange settings for the default iOS mail app in the iOS Settings application by:
- Click on Settings.
- Click on Mail.
- Click on Accounts.
- Click on your Exchange account.
- Click on the account name.
- Verify that the Service listed is outlook.office365.com. If it is not, click in the Server field and enter outlook.office365.com.
Android
Outlook Mobile App -The Outlook Mobile App for Android does not give direct visibility to the email settings being used. However, you can view which account is being used and the account type by:
- Click the user icon in the upper left.
- Verify that the account type is Office 365.
- Click the gear icon at the bottom left.
- Click the TAMU Email account under Mail Accounts.
- Verify that the email listed is your @tamu.edu email address. If it is not, you will need to delete and re-add the Outlook Mobile App account.
Android Mail - Every Android manufacturer's default email client behaves slightly differently, and specific instructions for all versions is not practical. However, if you are using the Gmail app that is provided on Most Android phones, you can verify your account settings by:
- Click on the sandwich menu in the top left.
- Click on Settings at the bottom.
- Choose your TAMU Account.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Click on Incoming Settings below the Server Settings section. Verify that the server listed is outlook.office365.com.

TAMU Mail Quarantine Service
You may end up getting an email from Texas A&M Mail Quarantine Service <spam-quarantine@tamu.edu> which is your End User Digest message, listing any emails that you received that have been blocked from delivery due to a variety of reasons, predominantly that the messages appear to be a SPAM message. Emails that are flag as malicious or infected are blocked from email delivery.
In this Digest Email, you have the ability to "Release" the email to your inbox, also the ability to "Release and Allow Sender"; simply click on the appropriate "ACTION button to the right of the email.
You also can Request a New End User Digest or a Safe/Blocked Senders List with the ACTION links at the top right of the email.
These actions will allow you to control who is on your personal Safe Sender or Blocked Sender list.
